NEXT MEETING: Thursday, JUNE 5tH, 6:30pm   Turning 101 class at 6:00pm Chainsaw milling special!  – We’ve had a number of requests from folks with mini lathes to help them out finding wood that they could turn.  Seems like most of the stuff we are auctioning at our monthly meetings is too big for them.  So rather than have a class for the 101 session in June, we are going to offer up some “milling” time.  A few of our experienced members will be bringing our chainsaws – and we will cut up whatever logs you may want to bring and turn them into blanks that will fit your lathe.  Get here early if you want to participate!  We will probably start cutting the blanks as early as 5:45 TURNING CHALLENGE: Next Month’s Turning Challenge will be salt and pepper shakers (not grinders or mills!).  These offer up their own set of unique challenges and “design opportunities” so let’s see what our members can come up with.  We'll have a SPECIAL PRIZE for this month's winner!  DEMO:       Hands-on Sharpening and Honing  We will have two grinders set up for both freehand and Wolverine-jig sharpening, plus a new “Jool-Tool” sharpening demonstration by Bob Winter.  There will also be a demonstration on honing using hand-held diamond honers.   Members can bring a tool or two to try the sharpening techniques being taught on the Wolverine systems.
